COVID-19 Vaccine Storage and Handling
COVID-19 Vaccine Storage and Handling
It’s important that vaccine is stored in the appropriate unit to protect its viability and ensure that your patients get the protection that they need. Use the table to make sure that the COVID vaccine at your site is stored at the right temperature for the right amount.
- Vaccine stored at this temperature range must be labelled with a Beyond Use Date (BUD) label indicating the date it must be removed from this unit and moved to the fridge.
- Vaccine stored at this temperature range must be labelled with a Beyond Use Date (BUD) label indicating the date it must be removed from this unit and discarded.
CDC Beyond Use Labels (BUD)
Use BUD labels to keep track of when vaccine must be discarded (or in the case of Pfizer 12+ stored in the freezer, moved to the fridge).
The CDC has created BUD labels that can be accessed here:- Pfizer 5 -11 – https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/info-by-product/pfizer/downloads/Pfizer_PED_BUD-Labels.pdf
